Pathfinders Meeting Minutes                   January 17, 2002                      Town hall, Employee Lounge 

Chairperson, Karen Borga, called the meeting to order at 8:20pm. 

In attendance:  Karen Borga, Ronnie Bruchez, Leo Kissling, Jr., Sarah Ralston, Tom Stevens, Bob Froehlick, Stephen Vosweik, Dawn Rakow, Nick Anzalone, Shanna Kout Soupias, Sharon Breil-Molitor, and Jen Sialski.  

The December minutes were approved. 

Treasurer’s report: Tom Stevens  $716.79 Balance December meeting 

New spending approved since last meeting:   $35.00 Ink cartridges

$180.00 Pathfinders stationery     $215.00 total new spending

Corresponding secretary: Sarah Ralston- Wrote a letter to the committee asking for a petty cash fund. We were rejected. We discussed writing another letter. 

Grants: - Dawn Rakow – no activity at this time. 

Mapping: Tom Stevens – No new areas have been mapped since the last report in December. As the weather permits I will be mapping new areas in Colliers Mills and the Legler section. I will send out e-mails about when I will be going out mapping. Everyone is welcome to come along. If anyone has time and wants to map some trails on their own, please let me know and I will give you a map and an area to do.  

Biking: Uriah Albrink – absent – no report 

Membership/Computer programming: Joe Russo, Dawn Rakow,   Sharon Molitor has joined the mapping committee and is working with Joe’s program updating member information. 

Frank Applegate Road Nature Trail - Dawn Rakow, Jim Doyle has plans to meet Jack Macri to mark the trail Monday, January 21st at 8:30am. Repairs are needed for the sign. The Plexiglas has been damaged. 

Hiking: Jim Doyle:  absent, submitted this report.  Jack & Dolores Macri volunteered to mark the Frank Applegate Road Nature Trail with me, Monday, January 21.  There were no hikes to report.  February 7th I will travel to New York City to attend the semi-annual NY/NJ Trails Conference. 

Wildlife Preservation: Anthony Santa Maria- Three barred- owl houses and an experimental pileated woodpecker house have been constructed and are ready for placement. One owl house will be placed at the Forest Resource Center, another will be placed on the Frank Applegate trail and the third owl house is reserved for a future trail site yet to be determined. The woodpecker house will be placed on my property and should to prove to be a success, additional woodpecker houses will be constructed. All four houses will be installed before the end of January. 

Johnson Park: Sam Wimmer - A letter was written by Sarah to the committee asking the to appropriate funds from the township budget - $5,000 for 2002 and another $5,000 for 2003 for trail development. This project could be undertaken by Public Works. 

Website: Madeleine Nist – www.jacksonpathfinders.org- Tom added his mapping pages. A links page was added also. 

Scrapbook: Lauren and Alyson Stevens. – No new items have been added since last meeting. We are planning on working on a scrapbook page for the website. The page will have pictures of recent Pathfinders activities. The pages will be updated as new pictures become available. 

Bowman Road/Forestry – Karen Walzer- Spring Conservation Volunteer Day –Saturday, April 13th.  Volunteers are needed to help with trail maintenance and work Pathfinders booth.

Land Acquisition: Karen Borga- no activity last month.
