Who We Are

• A Volunteer Organization
  • Jackson Pathfinders is a group of volunteers whose goals are
    • to preserve open spaces in Jackson, New Jersey, wherever possible
    • to maintain existing trails in our parks, and
    • to contribute to a network of land preservation efforts throughout the country.
  • To achieve these goals, Pathfinders have begun to identify, map, mark, and maintain trails for walking, hiking, jogging, bicycling, and equestrian activities on public - and where permitted - private land.
  • Our vision is to encourage pride in our community and to gain public support for preserving open space for future generations.

• A Jackson Township Organization
  • Pathfinders is supported by the Jackson Town Council. 
    We operate under the direction of the Jackson Recreation Department and work closely with the Town Council in discussing future land acquisitions.
  • Pathfinders is also the community advocacy group for the Forest Resource Education Center and we have worked with the Jackson Environmental Commission.

History

Jackson Pathfinders was started in the spring of 1999 by Ellen Repasy who organized a group of area residents who were concerned about the increasing development in Jackson. Thanks to the efforts of Ellen and Jackson Township's former Deputy Mayor Vicki Rickabaugh, Pathfinders became recognized as a township organization and were given an operating budget.
